When describing Daphne Oz, the word authentic is at the top of the list. After spending five minutes with the new mama of three, it becomes crystal clear that she is first and foremost a girl’s girl, possessing that rare combination of infectious warmth and refreshing honesty, confidence and intelligence, all while remaining decidedly down to earth. This one-of-a-kind combination is undoubtedly behind her success as a best-selling cookbook author, natural food chef, much-loved TV personality, and social media darling. It seems as though the phrase, “I don’t know how she does it” exists for women like Daphne Oz. At the time of our shoot, Daphne was 36 weeks along with baby number three (she welcomed her Domenica in late 2017), redecorating her home, and had recently left her six-year gig at ABC’s popular daytime show, The Chew. As she embarks on this new chapter of her life and career, the now mama of three is quick to discount the balance myth. “For the longest time, I struggled with guilt over whether every minute I spent working meant I was missing essential moments with my kids, and whether every moment spent with them meant I was missing career opportunities….What I’ve come to realize is that how I make my kids feel when I am with them is what counts the most.” Here, Daphne opens up in her unique, talking-to-your-best-girlfriend-kind-of-way about her motherhood journey—from her birth stories and postpartum recovery to how she prioritizes her own health and marriage.
